Description

The Madison County Courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historical Places as having been built in 1825. From October 2009 to November 2011 this impressive building underwent extensive renovation- preservation and expansion. In order to prepare for this 2 year project, Heinz outfitted a temporary courtroom space with a sound system. Upon completion of the project, this equipment was utilized in the secondary courtroom of the new addition.

The building houses two courts: the 16th General District Court as well as the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, in addition to a private Hearing Room. Each courtroom is outfitted with microphones and speakers, a digital recording system, and video displays for evidence presentation. Due to the historic background of the courtroom, technology had to be incorporated with a great deal of consideration and sensitivity to the aesthetics of the space. A fixed frame projection screen was placed on one side wall, and its projector with an ultra-long-throw lens discreetly mounted on the opposite wall. Speakers to assist the jury in hearing testimony were installed flush-mounted in the jury wall. Small, wide-dispersion speakers on each side wall allow those in the gallery to hear proceedings.

Similar to the General District Court, equipment was installed to enhance the environment in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and Hearing Room. Microphones were installed with flush-mounted ceiling speakers to reinforce sound for the Gallery. Judge and attorney microphones are equipped with on/off switches to protect the confidentiality of off-record conversation. Large-screen LCD monitors for evidence display were installed in the JCD courtroom, as well as to the Hearing Room.
