Sound System Upgrade

Description

Meadows Presbyterian Church, which holds both traditional and contemporary services, contacted us because they had outgrown their existing sound system. Most of their equipment was outdated, and in some cases unreliable. While the existing main speakers were of excellent quality, they were poorly located, muddying the sound in the room. The mixer, housed in a closet adjacent to the sanctuary, provided no way of making systems adjustments without disrupting the service. Also, the contemporary service’s music team was growing, requiring additional inputs for vocals and instruments.

As a solution, we installed a larger, more flexible mixer, new amplifiers and sound processing, including digital EQ and feedback suppression. Five wireless microphones were added to accommodate the increased number of vocalists while decreasing stage clutter. We installed two jacks in front providing needed floor monitors for the praise band. The existing main speakers were repositioned in a high center-cluster configuration, optimizing sound coverage and clarity. The center cluster was then wrapped with sound-permeable fabric to blend with the wood tones of the ceiling. Finally, we integrated a digital recording interface which allows for recordings in mp3 format for storage, CD burning, and easy uploading of service recordings to the Meadows’ website.
