Description
Newcomb Hall houses a dining facility in four separate, but adjoining rooms, an outdoor terrace, and two separate food serving areas, with seating from 120 to nearly 400. Due to extensive renovations of the building over the years, speaker cable run required gaining access through former exterior walls. Due to the multiple and varying heights of the ceiling, a distributed system of nearly 50 flush-mounted ceiling speakers, and 4 wall-mounted speakers, was chosen. Each speaker has the capacity to be set at different wattages, allowing for balanced sound coverage from high-ceilinged to low-ceilinged spaces. The kitchen was set up with wall-mounted wide-dispersion speakers, allowing kitchen staff to enjoy music as well. Additionally, the client requested two large flat panel monitors with web access mounted in the two largest dining rooms. These panels serve as interactive digital signage which allows students who use the dining services to offer “live” feedback via text message to those who are serving them.
