Sound System Upgrade

Description

The owners of No. 3 (previously named Jabberwoky) contacted us after determining the need to replace their Bose Jukebox sound system, which provided limited sound coverage to their restaurant, a large open space with bamboo flooring and open ceilings. The idea was to have a system with the flexibility of a background sound system "transforming" into a heavy hitting late night dance club system. Our initial design was for a mid-powered PA for acoustic music, whose main speakers could be used at low volumes for background, but become full main PA speakers for live acoustic performances. After a year of using this system, the owners decided to further evolve the space into an upscale DJ-centric late-night club, with large crowds four nights a week. We upgraded the main speakers to 600 watt 15” wall mounted speakers, and relocated the former acoustic main stage speakers as back-fill/side-fill speakers for the gaming areas away from the dance floor. We installed an 18” subwoofer under the DJ booth, providing the low-end thump crucial to dance hall sound.
