Description
UVA Dining Services requested an audio-video proposal for a large dining hall, serving areas, intimate television viewing area and kitchen. One challenge to the job was the cavernous architecture, which resembles an airline terminal. With few interior walls and high ceilings, the sprawling spaces required even sound coverage, with independent volume control for each area. In the television viewing area, the client requested a moveable screen. We specified a 50-inch flat panel LCD monitor, mounted to a heavy steel rolling cart with a dedicated speaker. Satellite radio, cable TV signal and a CD/iPod input allowed for separate audio in the various areas simultaneously, if needed. [Note: Since the completion of the original work, the client has requested an additional LCD monitor for digital signage, as well as audio in an adjacent convenience mart, where students can purchase food and necessities in the dining hall’s off-hours].
